Alpe Cainallo - Esino Lario

At an altitude of 1296 meters is reached in a few minutes drive from Esino. In winter is a pleasant ski resort, summer is the ideal base for excursions to the huts of the Grigna.

A very interesting walk is one of the Icebox Moncodeno (1640m), a cave and summer also keeps inside ice and snow. From here, up to mid-nineteenth century, it was extracted ice that supplied the Milanese merchants.

To admire this curious underground ice palace, which attracted up here even Leonardo Da Vinci, it is advisable to equip themselves with heavy sweaters and a safety rope.
